We traveled from Edinburgh west about an hour to Falkirk to see a few sights including the enormous metal horse heads.

The artist, Andy Scott, created them to represent the heads of two Clydesdale working horses, common in the past in Scottish steel industry, which used to pull various types of loads including towing the barges along the canal, beside the installation.

You can see how immense they are, dwarfing me. They stand in a lovely park area. We approached them from the east and didn’t see them until we were at the site but if your driving from the west they loom beside the M9 motorway.

Kelpies are mythological, shape shifting beasts. We stood in awe, admiring their power and breathtaking beauty.
