We had the good fortune to be hosted by a family friend in Edinburgh. Ann is a retired home economics teacher and a good cook! The first night we were in Edinburgh she said I’ve made something for dinner and if you don’t like it don’t eat it. We were curious!

It turned out to be a ‘starter’ with haggis on top, nips or turnip in the middle and tatties or potatoes on the bottom. We liked it!

We were also hosted by Keith’s second cousin, Nan. Her brother Ian and his wife Christine were visiting from Alberta.

Nan is well known for a certain dessert. After dinner our wishes were granted. She served her delicious Pavlova!

We enjoyed a few other treats on our travels. I’m sure you’ve had shortbread but probably not as good as this one!

Have you ever tasted tablet? It’s like a hard fudge and very addictive.

We aren’t whiskey drinkers and there were lots of other beverage options. We enjoyed tasty local beers and ciders and I tried Irn Bru, a cream soda like pop …once.
