Our flights from Victoria to Toronto and overnight from Toronto to Delhi were uneventful, just the way we like. We landed a few minutes early at the relatively new and very modern and clean Indira Gandhi International Airport.

We were through customs quickly. Our hotel had sent a car however no one was there to meet us and Keith’s e-sim wasn’t working to call or text. Of course, several taxi drivers approached us, offering a lift. One of them kindly let us call the hotel on his phone and in minutes our driver appeared. Keith tipped the fellow and we followed our driver for what seemed like a kilometre walk to the car.

Driving out of the airport we saw modern research centres like agriculture and infectious disease and air force and army stations. Eventually we were off the highway and onto narrower, more chaotic roads with shops and apartments and sacred cows lounging on the side!

It was dark and after 10 pm when we arrived at our hotel. We settled in, trying to sleep…again!
