Today we drove to the original capital of Rajasthan, the Amer Fort, which is in the hills a few kilometres outside of Jaipur.
The fortress has a wall, the third longest wall in the world, after The Great Wall of China and another wall in the same state. Like many cities the fort was designed for protection from enemies and has both a lake surrounding it and underground tunnels for the royal family to use to escape in case of attack.

The palace is well preserved Persian style. Reminded us of the El Hambre in Granada. It was opulent and beautiful, from the mirrored tiles to the lush gardens.

There are examples of Step Wells in Delhi too but this one is especially beautiful. The well fills up with water during the monsoon season. Women, carrying clay pots on their heads go down the steps to fill them. Now that India has drinking water they’re no longer used. This one was being used as a photo op background.

Jal Mahal is former summer palace on the lake, which was used in the hot season!
