We awoke to another sunny day. We explored the quaint little town of Sechelt, starting with a traditional breakfast at the Village Restaurant. We walked around town and stopped in at Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. We tasted several balsamic vinegars settling on Mediterranean Herb, yummy.

We stopped at ‘The Bakery’. Keith got a cookie and a coffee – to make up for the one at breakfast – and I got a decadent Chocolate Coconut Oatmeal bar.
Needing to burn off our goodies, we headed out to some scenic spots. First to hike up to Barnett Falls along a lush, fern and cedar lined trail.

Sechelt is at the base of a long inlet. Near the town is Porpoise Bay. We walked the beach and saw lots of large shells but no porpoises.

We drove to Smugglers Cove. Sadly the trail was closed. So instead we went to Half Moon Bay, sat on the beach and enjoyed our treats.

We drove south to Gibsons, the small town where the 1980’s CBC TV show ‘The Beachcombers’ was filmed. It’s a beautiful spot.

Of course we got the requisite photo in front of Molly’s Reach, the cafe in the show.

There was a very unique, verdant floating home in the marina.

Back in Sechelt of course we enjoyed some local beer and cider.

We finished off the evening with local ice cream. Mine is in a charcoal cone – supposedly good for digestion. It tastes like a chocolate wafer cookie.

We’ve had great weather and a fun time on the Sunshine Coast!
