Most of you know that I frequently visit my daughter Stefanie and her family who live in the Portland area.
Keith and I travel here every Christmas. I often sit outside on the hour and a half ferry ride, looking for whales, but this year it’s too cold.

We always stop for lunch in Port Angeles at The Devils Lunch Box for yummy tacos.🌮 In the evening live bands play a variety of music.

We booked a hotel in downtown Portland. You’re probably thinking, but what about ICE and the National Guard? Well, I was downtown in October and it was fine and this time we felt safe…just wet!

We stayed at the comfortable, cool, old Hotel Lucia. The walls were lined with black and white prints by the former White House photographer, Pulitzer Prize Winner and Oregonian David Hume Kennerly.
Near our room were photos of Fidel Castro, of course smoking a cigar; the Bush Family, and the First Ladies of the administration in the 60s and 70s.
The lobby had a selection of modern art, old cameras, sculptures and a bright Xmas Tree!

We spent a morning at the Portland Art Museum that had a wide selection of art genres mostly by American Artists.

Christmas Eve we went to the Oregon Zoo to enjoy Zoo Lights. It was quite a spectacle with not one but two trains covered in lights and circling the park. Lit Christmas trees danced to music, there was every kind of animal decoration, a carousel and lots of vendors selling hot drinks and snacks!

Theo and I iced sugar cookies.

Washington State is the land of Big Foot! You can see them everywhere!

It was too cloudy to see the other Cascade Mountains on our drive but we did get a good view of Mount Baker.
